Gandhinagar Runners Group was formed in 2010 under mentorship and leadership of Mr. B K Satish. He is the founder of this group and brought all non-professional runners together on a common platform to develop their running skills. The group has discovered the hidden potential of the members to enhance their running capacity from non runners or small distance runners to marathon runners. The group organises weekly runs thrice in a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The weekly runs routes are astonishingly beautiful, with its lush green natural beauty all over. One has to experience to believe it.
This group consists of all non-professionals & dedicated runners from different backgrounds (i.e. Doctors, Engineers, Reputed Officials from Government departments, Technocrats, Businessmen, Managers, IT specialists, Chartered Accounts, Company Secretary & Journalists). Apart from weekly runs this group has participated in many marathon events such as Delhi Marathon, Sabarmati Marathon & Cyclothon, Kaveri Trail Run, Mount Abu hill run and B Safal Half marathon etc.
Around 5 years back, Mr.Satish had planted a concept of weekly runs for good mental and physical health with few runners those who can count on fingers but over the years, glory of this group has enhanced, runners are added and now the total strength has reached to 28 Nos in our runners family.
Running is a bit challenging habit to develop over a period of time with endless efforts, self-motivation, perseverance and to maintain consistency with great amount of enthusiasm. As a runner, in last 5 years we all took it as a challenge and developed this running habit. With God's grace and blessings of our mentor (Mr. B K Satish) and sincere and devoted efforts of all our members, we are now moving forward a little step ahead and announcing Run Gandhinagar Run - a half marathon of 21.042 km. along with dream run of 7km on 29th January'2017 to bring awareness about running and its benefits to individuals and society as a whole in green city, clean city and healthy city of Gandhinagar.

Gandhinagar is one of Gujarat's greenest cities and is named after the father of our nation Mahatama Gandhi. The city has remained the State Capital since 1970, with a layout plan similar to the city of Chandigarh created by H.K. Mewada and PrakashApte. Endowed with an effective transport system and industrial infrastructure, the city has strong connectivity with rest of India, especially powerful business hubs like Mumbai and Surat.
Gandhinagar is often referred to as Eco-polite city or Cosmo-polite city, due to its serene environment, green personality and lavish infrastructure. The city is spread over an area of over 117 square kilometers, at an altitude of 81 meters above the average sea level. These traits give Gandhinagar a fairly pleasant climate even during summers.
Gandhinagar represents itself as a spacious, regimented and architecturally gifted city of India. Some of its main attractions include, the motivational Dandi Kutir a place inspired by Gandhiji's endeavors to encourage the young generation to follow his footsteps and thegrand Mahatama Mandir, a conference and exhibition center of global proportions that reflects the life and philosophy of the Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi.
The city is also filled with numerous other places worth visiting like Akshardham Temple, the Capital Complex, Adalaj Ni Vav (ancient step well built by Queen Rudabai), Children's Park, SaritaUdyan, Deer Park (Indroda Park), Punit Van (Botanical Garden depending on Zodiac signs and an Amphitheater) and the Craftsmen's Village atPethapur, make Gandhinagar a model city for the nation and pride for the State of Gujarat.
